We are implementing multispectral compressed sensing (MCS) in novel imaging instrument. We recently published a paper on offshore oil spill detection based on multispectral IR imaging with L1 minimization. In addition, our modeling work of thin oil film covered surface has provided a sound explanation to a long-standing question in daytime contrast reversal of oil covered sea surface. This model reveals a prominent sinusoidal-like pattern in the spectral range with "frequency" highly dependent on the film thickness. This phenomenon forms the basis of our highly efficient computational multispectral imaging.
